Boy oh boy do I miss eighth grade or what. No worries, no homework, and ultimate superiority. But alas, those days are gone, and I have moved into my sophomore year in high school. I feel like everyday I am slammed with either a test, project, or just flat out work. In the next week, I have to build a catapult for physics class. That's going to be pretty hard. And then more and more assignments in Latin class (which I hate). It really bugs the crap out of me. What do you think? Is your school year going as well as mine? Let me know

Well, school started Monday, and it has been the longest two days of my life. My schedule is really for the most part easy. I am taking Pre-AP latin which does worry me a little bit because I am not the best at it. Other than that, school is pretty easy this year.

Well, this past weekend I journeyed down to Tampa Bay Florida to see Coldplay. I was super excited and I wanted to see where they were playing afterwards. So i got on the website at the airport and it said it was postponed. Well my head about exploded.

So here it is. Band of the Month of July is....

"The Choir"

The Choir is a christian rock band who has made a big fat name for themselves in the christian and christian music world. Unfortunately I only have 1 album and that would be "Free Flying Soul". The album has a very "small" sound to it, meaning that there is not a lot of hollywood sounds effects and add-ons you would expect from some other bands. The album is a pretty long one indeed but its filled with beautiful uses of guitar and some strings mixed in there as well. If you like soft rock, then this band is for you.

Wow, I have been busy

I have not logged on in a while. School is finished. Freshman year was great. I loved it alot. I had some down moments but everything was fine at the end. I realize now what I have to do to stay on top of grades and such. Well, I do not want to waste summer, So I will probably have some new posts here and there but for the most part I will not get on until school starts up again.

The Best Yet: Switchfoot releases their best hits album

For all their achievements, including a half-dozen acclaimed albums and more than twice as many signature chart singles and album tracks, Switchfoot has yet to release a 'greatest hits' anthology.

For the first time, 'The Best Yet' pulls together Switchfoot's history representing all six albums they recorded on the indie re:Think Records and Columbia, where their 2003 breakthrough broke the platinum barrier.

"These are songs that we would like to play for someone who has never heard of Switchfoot," says Switchfoot member Tim Foreman. "There is quite a wide musical journey expressed in that list, and we're very proud of that part of our history as a band. Beyond that, we've been digging into the vault to find rare video content for the deluxe edition, so that the hard-core fan that does decide to buy it won't be disappointed."

The 18-song collection 'The Best Yet', featuring one newly-released song, "This Is Home" (from the summer 2008 movie soundtrack of Disney's The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian), will be available at all physical and digital retail outlets starting November 4 through Columbia/Legacy, a division of Sony BMG, and Credential Recordings, a division of EMI Christian Music Group.

In addition to the songs, the Deluxe Edition of 'The Best Yet' features 14 videos, including not only its huge MTV/VH-1 played hits, but also rare and never before released for sale videos, "The Blues", "Happy is a Yuppie Word" and "Company Car".

The release of 'The Best Yet' follows (by two weeks) Switchfoot's conclusion of the groundbreaking 23-city "Music Builds" Tour. A portion of the funds raised during the tour benefits Habitat for Humanity affiliates located in the tour cities.

Prospekt March! EP

The modern world, eh? Time was when you’d get an album, preceded and followed by a couple of singles, and that’d be that.

Now, with labels desperately trying to figure out how to keep their clients’ wares afloat, you get ‘leaks’ (some deliberate, some not), streams, downloads, covermounted singles, bonus discs, download-only singles, singles, albums, special edition albums, albums and singles. ‘Prospekts March’ — billed as “an EP of eight previously unreleased tracks” — comes hot on the heels of a single release of ‘Lost!’ and will simultaneously be teamed with the album and released as ‘Viva La Vida Prospekts March Edition’. Cripes!

In truth, of the eight previously unreleased tracks, one is a not-massively-adventurous reshuffle (the Osaka Sun mix of ‘Lovers In Japan’), another a 48-second long incidental piano piece, another the version of ‘Lost!’ that features Jay-Z on autopilot (ie, still quite amazing) but is on the flip of the single. So they don’t count.

The opener is ‘Life In Technicolor (ii)’, which takes ‘Viva…’’s opening almost-instrumental and adds a typically bombastic melody, plus a chorus whose words (“Now my feet won’t touch the ground!”) are reprised as the title of the stripped-down, acoustic guitar-led closing song. And in-between? Well, there’s a positively garagantuan, only slightly Eno-ified stadium filler entitled ‘Glass Of Water’, featuring such deep and meaningful musings as “Dream that you could see your future/Inside a glass of water/The ripples and the lines”; a vaguely dance-y, ever-so-vaguely funky “experimental” effort called ‘Rainy Day’; and the title track, which tries oh-so hard to be a bit, y’know, strange, before the inevitable arrival of synth strings (buoying a ‘Wish You Were Here’-aping line in the guise of, “We’re just two little figures in a soup bowl”) and the even more inevitable arrival of – you guessed it — a life-affirming™ chorus.

All of which is far more complicated than it needs to be, a hefty bout of smoke and mirrors ultimately intended to add some mystery to the Coldplay campaign and re-ignite interest in ‘Viva La Vida…’ which, at the time of going to press, is residing in the lower regions of the Top 40. Will it work? Is ‘Prospekts March’ a stroke of marketing/brand reigniting/whatever genius? Lord knows. But can someone do me a fucking favour and please figure out the best way to do all this shit, so we can get back to reviewing actual music rather than all these crazy little projects?!

Mary Onettes

The Mary Onettes are that mix of a non sell out rock band and a all guy orchestra. You can tell from the beginning that this is more that one person singing their songs. If you ever listen to them live, they sound the exact same as they do on the track. With songs such as "Pleasure Songs" the band slows things down. They just released a new single entitled "Lost" which gives a more rockish feel to them

This weeks band of the week is a simple choice for me to make. I have listened to them a lot lately, and their name is Mainstay. They are a christian rock band taking on the sound of switchfoot mized with a little bit of Newsboys. Their hit singles such as "Become Who You Are" and "Believe" struck christian radio stations like a lightning bolt. Their not to heavy and not to light which adds to their music ability.

This second month of summer has been really hectic. I've had constant basketball events, I worked at a Vacation Bible School that I had never even heard of until a couple days before. I have been to museum's on some days, six flags the next. Then on monday I have to go on a mission trip,and don't get me wrong, I totally want to go. I'm pumped! I have to come home early to go to Orlando for Disney World (sweet) Then I have orientation for school, blah blah blah. I'm so not ready. It's like one big traffic jam.

Well, Switchfoot, my absolute favorite band in the world, released a song today from their new album. I HATE it. Wait.... timeout. I dont hate it.... I very much dislike it. Me and one of my good friends were talking today about it and he had this to say. "It is lyrically and musically dry." I agree. There is another reason I am disliking it right now. It is going to be in the new Narnia movie..... And so they are being promoted by Disney... That is never a good thing. I am afraid they are going to be sell outs and all the little kids that watch...... let me rephrase this. They will be the next Jonas Brothers (yuck) or Hannah Montana. (double yuck) Please.... New York Giants pull out a doozy

Well, no one gave them a shot, but they upset everybody. At 9:23 central time, Tynes (#9) kicked a 47 yard field goal, and the giants beat the Green Bay Packers 23-20 in overtime. Tynes had missed to of his previous field goals, comes in and makes the game winner.

This is a huge win for the Giants, because they advance to Super Bowl 42 in Arizona. They will face the New England Patriots, who defeated the San Diego Chargers 21-12. On February 3rd, these two teams will face off for the Lombardi Trophy.

Oh man.
Its final semester exam time again.
Yesterday I took the English exam. It was pretty easy, but some of the parts, like the vocabulary part, were pretty dang hard. See. with exams, the teacher give you alot to study, and usually that helps. When you see something on the review, and its the hardest thing to find, you get bamboozled. (my awesome word of the day) Then the part that was the absolute hardest, ends up being on the test.

Well, I can only study so much.

Recently, i dont know why, I have listened to alot of Coldplay. They are just an amazing group, that has a bunch of amazing songs. If you know me well, you know that I am a huge Switchfoot fan, but Coldplay is raking up there on my favorite bands list. my favorite song by them right now is "Fix You" off there "X&Y" album. They have been sitting on my iPod for a while, and I never bothered to listen to them. Thanks Coldplay for bringing great meaning to my life
